The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.

Arrest/ Threats – CK25077025

Date: December 23, 2025, Time: 15:51 hrs, Location: Antrim Road, Howard

On December 23, 2025, at approximately 15:51 hrs, Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a family dispute at a residence on Antrim Road, Howard Township.

Investigation revealed that a 54-year-old male from Morpeth had been consuming alcohol and was threatening family members while in possession of a crowbar. The male fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.

Officers later located the accused in his vehicle parked on Chatham Street, Blenheim.

He was subsequently charged with the following offences:

·Assault with a Weapon x 2

·Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm

·Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand

The accused was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he was released with conditions and a scheduled future court date of February 2, 2026.

Domestic IPV – CK25077097

Date: December 23, 2025, Time: 21:19hrs Location: Chatham

On December 23, 2025, at approximately 21:19hrs, Chatham-Kent Police Service officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a residence in Chatham.

Investigations revealed that the incident was part of an ongoing pattern of intimate partner violence between an accused, a 52-year-old male and a 44-year-old female victim, both from Chatham. Further investigation also revealed several assault incidents and property damage at the residence.

During the investigation, a firearm with ammunition was also located and seized after it was determined that it was not stored safely.

As a result, the accused was arrested and charged with the following offences:

·Assault Cause Bodily Harm – Choking x 2

·Mischief Under $5000 x2

·Careless Storage of Firearm

The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he is currently held for bail.

Arrest/Warrants – CK25076984

Date: December 23, 2025, Time: 11:25 hrs, Location: 24 Third Street, Chatham

On April 8, 2025, at approximately 4:25 hrs, Chatham-Kent Police Service officers observed a vehicle being driven at a high rate of speed and without functioning brake lights on George Street in Chatham.

A traffic stop was conducted and during the investigation, the driver, a 35-year-old male from Chatham displayed signs of impairment and refused to surrender his insurance documentation. During the investigation officers also observed various drug paraphernalia within the vehicle.

Police proceeded to conduct a Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) which the accused failed.

The accused was charged with the following offences:

·Count 1 – No brake lights

·Count 2 – Fail to surrender insurance card

·Count 3 – Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

·Count 4 – Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused was given a court date of April 28, 2025, which he failed to attend court. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

On December 23, 2025, at approximately 11:25 hrs the accused surrendered himself at the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters on an outstanding endorsed warrant. He was later released with conditions and a scheduled court date.

ASD Refusal /Warrants – CK25077170

Date: December 24, 2025, Time: 04:00 hrs Location: St. Clair Street, Chatham

On December 24, 2025, at approximately 4:00 hrs, a Chatham- Kent Police Service officer observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Police conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as a 21-year-old male from Chatham. During the investigation, officers noted signs of impairment and an Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand was made, which the driver refused. The individual also refused to surrender his driver’s license, registration and insurance to police.

The accused was arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he provided two breath samples registering as failed. As a result, he was charged with the following offences:

·Count 1: Refusal to Comply with Demand

·Count 2: Operation while Impaired- Blood alcohol concentration 80 plus

·Count 3: Novice driver fail to provide breath sample

·Count 4: Driver fail to surrender licence

·Count 5: Novice driver – B.A.C above zero

·Count 6: Have care or control of vehicle with cannabis in open baggage

·Count 7: Disobey Sign

·Count 8: Fail to surrender insurance card

While lodged in a cell, the accused also intentionally damaged property within the cell and he was charged additionally with the following offence:

·Count 9: Mischief under $5000.00

The accused is currently being held for bail.
