The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 72 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.

Impaired –CK25076193

Date: December 19, 2025, Time: 8:43 hrs, Location: St. Clair Road and Pine Line, Chatham

On December 19, 2025, at approximately 8:43 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to reports of a vehicle driving erratically in a local business parking lot and the surrounding area in Chatham.

Police located the vehicle in the area of St. Clair Road and Pine Line in Dover Township. The driver, a 35-year-old male from Chatham, was found to be impaired and was arrested for the following offences:

  • Dangerous Driving
  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he provided two breath samples registering as failed. As a result, he was additionally charged with the following offence:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus

He was later released with conditions and a future court date of January 5, 2026.

Warrants–CK25076240

Date: December 20, 2025, Time: 0030 hrs, Location: St. Clair Street, Chatham.

On December 20, 2025, at approximately 12:30 a.m., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a call for service at a business on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

The investigation revealed that an individual was located inside an upstairs washroom after the business had closed. Police identified the accused as a 41-year-old woman from Chatham.

Further investigation revealed, the woman was wanted on an outstanding bench warrant fortwo counts of Fail to Comply with an Undertaking and Fail to Comply with Probation order.

She was arrested and transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, where she was released with a scheduled court date of January 14, 2026.

Trespass–CK25076290

Date: December 20, 2025, Time: 07:03 hrs, Location: King Street West, Chatham

On December 20, 2025, at approximately 7:03 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a trespasser at a business on King Street West, Chatham.

The business owner reported that an individual had been repeatedly asked to leave the property and had been observed engaging in disruptive behaviour at the entrance.

Police located and identified the accused as a 45-year-old male from Chatham-Kent nearby who matched the description provided. He was issued a Part I Provincial Offence Notice for Trespassing.

Assault Police Officer –CK25076292

Date: December 20, 2025, Time:07:29 hrs, Location: King Street West in Chatham

On December 20, 2025, at approximately 07:29 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of an unwanted individual on King Street West in Chatham.

Officers attended the location and spoke with a 46-year-old male from Chatham-Kent who had been standing in the area for an extended period and had previously been asked to leave. The man refused to comply and was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for trespassing. Despite being directed to leave, he continued to refuse and became disruptive.

While officers were addressing the situation, the man approached a police cruiser and spat inside the vehicle at an officer.

As a result, the man was arrested and charged with:
• Assault a Peace Officer

He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, where he was later released with conditions and a future court date of January 20, 2025.

Suspicious vehicle–CK25076385

Date: December 20, 2025, Time: 16:46 hrs, Location: Davidson Road, Tilbury

On December 20, 2025, at approximately 16:46 hrs., a Chatham-Kent Police Service officer observed a suspicious vehicle stopped along Davidson Road, Tilbury.

The officer approached the vehicle and attempted to speak with the driver drove away during the interaction. Following a brief pursuit, the vehicle was safely stopped and the driver was apprehended.

The driver, a 61-year-old male from Tilbury, was identified. As a result of the investigation, he was released with conditions and issued a Provincial Offence Notice.

Refusal-CK25076517

Date: December 20, 2025, Time:03:48 hrs., Location: King St. West, Chatham

On December 20, 2025, at approximately 3:48 hrs., an officer with the Chatham-Kent Police Service conducted a traffic stop on King Street West in Chatham.

As a result of the investigation, a 35-year-old male from Chatham was issued a roadside Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand but refused to provide a breath sample. He was subsequently charged with the following offence:

  • Refusal to Comply with a Demand

The individual’s driver’s licence was suspended and the vehicle was impounded. He was released with conditions and a scheduled court date.

Breach of Probation – CK25076645

Date: December 21, 2025, Time: 1950 hrs, Location: Grand Ave. W. Chatham

On December 21, 2025, at approximately 19:50 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of an unwanted person at a business on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.

Upon arrival, officers located a 51-year-old male from Chatham who was found to be in breach of his court-ordered probation conditions that prohibited him from attending the location.

Subsequently, he was charged with the following offences:

  • Fail to comply with Probation x2

He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he is currently being held for bail.

Fraud – CK25076588

Date: December 21, 2025, Time:13:09 hrs., Location: Orford Township

On December 21, 2025, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of fraud involving cryptocurrency.

A 70-year-old female from Orford Township reported being contacted by a male she met on Instagram approximately three weeks earlier. The male claimed he was returning from a military contract and requested financial assistance, promising to repay her with a larger amount.

The victim was persuaded to send funds using Bitcoin. She later lost all contact with the suspect and learned the provided screenshots and contact details were fraudulent.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind the public to be cautious of online interactions involving requests for money, cryptocurrency, or financial assistance especially during the holiday season.
