The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.

Theft – CK25075697

Date: December 17, 2025, Time: 14:31 hrs, Location: McNaughton Avenue, Wallaceburg

On December 17, 2025, at approximately 14:31 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of theft at a retail store on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.

The investigation revealed that a female suspect entered the store, selected several items of merchandise, and left in a vehicle. A description of the suspect and the vehicle was obtained.

Police later located the suspect’s vehicle on Murray Street in Chatham. The suspect, a 50‑year‑old female from Chatham, was identified, arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Count 1: Theft Under $5,000
  • Count 2: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where she was released with a scheduled future court date of January 19, 2026.

Arrest – CK25075520

Date: December 17, 2025, Time: 03:06hrs: Location: Wallaceburg

On December 17, 2025, at approximately 03:06 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of an assault at a residence in Wallaceburg.

The investigation revealed that a verbal dispute escalated into a physical altercation between a 62-year-old male accused and a 61-year-old female victim, both from Wallaceburg, resulting in the victim sustaining multiple injuries. Additional medical assistance was required.

The individual was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Count #1 – Assault Causing Bodily Harm
  • Count #2 – Assault Causing Bodily Harm (Choking)

The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he is currently being held for bail.

Warrant/Arrest – CK25075756

Date: December 17, 2025, Time: 20:03 hrs, Location: Chatham

On December 14, 2025, at approximately 09:59 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a breach of probation involving a 25-year-old male from Chatham-Kent.

The investigation revealed that the individual was in close proximity to the residence of a 20-year-old female from Chatham. The accused was found to be in breach of court‑ordered conditions requiring him to remain a minimum of 100 metres away from the individual and to refrain from communicating with the victim. The suspect fled the location prior to officers’ arrival.

Officers formed reasonable grounds to charge the accused with the following offence:

  • Count 1: Fail to Comply

A warrant was issued for his arrest.

On December 17, 2025, at approximately 20:03 hrs, officers located and arrested the accused in Chatham on the outstanding warrant. He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he is currently held for bail.

Theft – CK25075727

Date: December 17, 2025, Time: 16:17 hrs, Location: St. Clair Street, Chatham

On December 17, 2025, at approximately 16:17 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a theft in progress at a retail store located on St. Clair Street in Chatham. 

Investigation revealed that a male suspect was observed concealing several items of merchandise and clothing himself in merchandise from within the store. The suspect then exited the store, even after being confronted by a loss prevention officer. 

Through the use of surveillance footage, the suspect was identified as a 58-year-old male from Chatham. He was subsequently charged with the following offences:

  • Count 1: Theft Under $5,000
  • Count 2: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was released with a scheduled future court date of January 19, 2026.
