The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 72 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.

Arrest, Theft – CK25073117

Date: December 5, 2025, Time: 08:09 hrs, Location: 24 Third Street, Chatham

On November 15, 2025, at approximately 10:24 a.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a reported theft at a local retail store on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg (CK25068862).

Investigations revealed that a male entered the store, proceeded to select several items of merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to purchase.

Through the use of surveillance footage, the suspect was identified as a 49-year-old male from Chatham-Kent.

Officers formed reasonable and probable grounds to charge the accused with the following offence:

  • Theft Under $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

A warrant was issued for his arrest.

On December 5, 2025, at approximately 8:09 hrs., officers with the Chatham-Kent Police Service located the accused, who was the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant in relation to a theft investigation (CK25068862). He was arrested and later released with conditions and a future court date.

Warrants – CK25073200

Date: December 5, 2025, Time: 15:59 hrs, Location: Hyslop, Chatham

On November 14, 2025, at approximately 1:03 a.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a break and enter at a local business on Sandy Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that a male suspect climbed over a barbed-wire fence and entered the secured compound. The suspect searched the property before triggering on-site alarms and surveillance cameras. He then fled the area, bending and damaging the fence in the process.

Through the use of video surveillance, the suspect was identified as a 46-year-old male from Chatham. At the time of the offence, the accused was bound by a release order dated September 16, 2025, with conditions including that he remain at his residence daily between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., which placed him in violation of this release order.

Officers formed reasonable grounds to charge the accused with the following offences:

  • Fail to Comply with a Release Order
  • Break and Enter with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence (Mischief)

A warrant was issued for his arrest.

On December 5, 2025, at approximately 3:59 p.m., officers located the accused and arrested him on an endorsed warrant in connection with a break and enter investigation. He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he was held for bail.

Warrants – CK25073201

Date: December 5, 2025, Time: 16:00 hrs, Location: 24 Third Street, Chatham

On November 29, 2025, at approximately 3:55 p.m., police responded to an assault complaint at a restaurant on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

A complainant reported that a female customer became verbally aggressive about her order, left the store, and then spat at her through the drive-through window. Witness statements also confirmed the customer’s abusive behaviour.

Through the use of surveillance footage, the accused was identified as a 35-year-old female from Chatham.

Police formed reasonable and probable grounds to charge the accused with the following:

  • Count 1: Assault

A warrant was issued for her arrest.

On December 5, 2025, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the accused attended Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters and turned herself in regarding an assault investigation stemming from a November 29 incident at Tim Hortons on St. Clair Street (CK25071777). She was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Weapons- CK25073380

Date: December 6, 2025, Time: 15:37 hrs, Location: St Clair Road, Wallaceburg

On December 6, 2025, at approximately 3:37 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service assisted the Ontario Provincial Police with a weapons complaint on St. Clair Road in Wallaceburg. A complainant reported seeing a male in a vehicle holding what appeared to be a handgun while travelling southbound.

CKPS officers located the vehicle near Country View Line and conducted a high-risk traffic stop on St. Clair Road near Pioneer Line. The vehicle pulled over immediately, and both occupants complied with police commands. The driver was identified as an 18-year-old male from Chatham-Kent and a 25-year-old male passenger from Wallaceburg.

Both males were detained for investigative purposes. They advised officers that the item in question was a toy gun recently purchased. Officers located a black plastic toy handgun and confirmed it was not a real firearm. The complainant later confirmed the occupants were not pointing the toy gun at anyone. Both individuals were released unconditionally.

Assault – CK25073388

Date: December 6, 2025, Time: 16:54 hrs, Location: Park Street, Chatham

On December 6, 2025, at approximately16:54 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to an assault complaint on Park Street in Chatham.

Investigations revealed that the incident began as a road-rage dispute between two drivers. The victim, a 27-year-old male from Chatham reported that after a brief exchange between the vehicles, he followed the other driver to a residence on Park Street and approached the vehicle. The suspect then sprayed him in the face with what he believed to be bear spray. The victim retreated to his vehicle. Additional medical assistance was required.

Through further investigation, officers located the accused, a 19-year-old female from Chatham. She was arrested and charged with the following offence:

  • Assault with a Weapon

She was transported to police headquarters and later released with conditions and given a scheduled court date for January 27, 2026.

Arrest Threats – CK25066716

Date: December 6, 2025, Time: 19:16hrs, Location: Mary Street, Chatham

On November 4, 2025, at approximately 7:16 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service received a complaint regarding a disturbance at an address on Mary Street, Chatham (CK25066716).

The complainant reported that her neighbour had attended her residence and punched two holes in her door during a yelling outburst. She also reported ongoing issues with the same individual, including loud banging, yelling, and targeted disturbances.

Further investigations identified the accused as a 49-year-old male from Chatham. The individual was located and charged with the following offences:

  • Count 1: Criminal Harassment
  • Count 2: Mischief Under $5,000
  • Count 3: Uttering Threats- Cause Death or Bodily Harm

The individual was transported to the Chatham- Kent Police Service headquarters where he was released with conditions and a scheduled future court date of January 28, 2026.

Arrest, Theft – CK25073574

Date: December 7, 2025, Time: 19:09 hrs, Location: St. Clair Street, Chatham

On December 7, 2025, at approximately 19:09 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of theft at a local retail store on St. Clair Street, Chatham.

Through investigation, it was discovered that a male entered the business, selected several items of merchandise, concealed them and left the premises without making any attempt to pay.

Through the use of surveillance footage, officers were able to identify the accused as a 52-year-old male from Blenheim.

Police located and arrested the individual in the parking lot. Subsequently, the individual was charged with the following offences:

  • Count 1: Theft Under $5,000
  • Count 2: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

All merchandise was returned to the retail store.

The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, where he was released with conditions and scheduled future court date of January 19, 2025.

Assault (IPV) CK25073656

Date: December 7, 2025, Time: 01:40 hrs, Location: Chatham

On December 7, 2025, at approximately 01:40 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a dispute report between two individuals at a residence in Chatham.

Investigations revealed that a verbal dispute escalated into a physical altercation between a 36-year-old male accused from Chatham-Kent and a 26-year-old female from Chatham. Additional Medical attention was required for the 36-year-old male where, he was taken to the hospital.

Subsequently, the accused was charged with the following offences:

  • Count 1: Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Count 2: Assault

He was released from hospital with conditions and a scheduled future court date of January 21, 2026.
