The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.

Arrest, Theft – CK25063828

Date: October 21, 2025, Time: 18:46 hrs, Location: Wellington Street West, Chatham

On October 21, 2025, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of theft at a local retail store on Wellington Street West, Chatham.

Through investigation, it was discovered that the accused had entered the business at 14:51 hrs, selected several merchandise, concealed the items. The accused was asked to leave the business but he refused. Eventually, he later exited the store without making a payment.

Through the use of video surveillance footage, officers were able to identify the accused as a 29-year-old male from Chatham.

Further investigations also revealed that the accused was in breach of his court-ordered conditions, including conditions not to attend the premises of the business and to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

Later that day, at approximately, 17:57 hrs, the accused returned to the business and selected several merchandise and again refused to leave the premises when instructed. He eventually left the store with the merchandise without making a payment.

Officers located and arrested the individual on Princess Street North, Chatham. He was charged with the following offences:

Count 1 – Fail to Comply with Undertaking

Count 2 – Theft Under $5,000

Count 3 – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

Count 4 – Fail to Comply with Probation Order

Count 5 – Fail to Comply with Undertaking

Count 6 – Fail to Leave Premises when Directed

Count 7 – Theft Under $5,000

Count 8 – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he is currently held for bail.

Arrest, Unlawfully in a Dwelling – CK25063833

Date: October 21, 2025, Time: 19:49 hrs, Location: Highland Drive, Wallaceburg

On October 21, 2025, at approximately 19:49 hrs, Chatham-Kent Police Service officers responded to a report of a suspicious person at a residence on Highland Drive, Wallaceburg.

Investigations revealed that the accused, a 48-year-old male from Wallaceburg entered the rear of a residence without permission. The homeowner contacted police after realizing an unknown male had entered his home. The suspect was chased off by the homeowner.  

Officers located and arrested the accused a short distance away. Subsequently, he was charged with the following offences:

  • Count 1 – Being unlawfully in a Dwelling House

Further investigations revealed that the accused was also found to be breaching his court-ordered conditions. On July 10, 2025, the individual was sentenced to a twelve-month probation order which subjected him to several conditions, including keep the peace and being of good behaviour.

The accused was additionally charged with the following offences:

  • Count 2 – Failure to Comply with Probation Order

The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he is currently held for bail.
