The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 72 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.
Intimate Partner Violence – CK25056923
Date: September 19, 2025, Time: 23:55 hrs, Location: Chatham
On September 19, 2025, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of an intimate partner violence incident. The accused, a 47-year-old male from Raleigh Township, attended the residence of a victim, a 48-year-old female from Chatham and assaulted her. The individual also threatened the victim and caused damage to items within the home.
Subsequently, the accused was charged with the following offences:
- Count 1: Mischief Under $5,000
- Count 2: Assault
- Count 3: Uttering threats
The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he is currently being held for bail.
Arrest – CK25057065
Date: September 20, 2025, Time 16:34 hrs: Location: Young Street, Tilbury
On September 20, 2025, at approximately 16:34 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of an assault.
Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim, a 60-year-old male from Chatham, was approached by the accused, a 38-year-old male from Chatham-Kent outside his residence
A verbal argument occurred, which escalated into a physical altercation when the accused pushed the victim from a chair and continued to physically assault him.
The victim sustained minor injuries and additional medical attention was required.
Subsequently, the accused was charged with the following offences:
- Count 1: Assault
- Count 2: Assault cause Bodily Harm
The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was released with conditions and a scheduled future court date of October 27, 2025.
Disturb the Peace / IPV – CK25057347
Date: September 21, 2025, Time: 23:41, Location: Chatham
On September 21, 2025, at 23:41 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of disturbance at a residence. Involving a 53-year-old male from Chatham, who became aggressive and was threatening others while intoxicated.
Upon investigation through video surveillance, the accused was observed throwing a weapon during an altercation. When officers arrived, the accused physically resisted police attempt to deescalate the situation.
During the incident, an officer was assaulted. Additional medical attention was not needed.
The accused was charged with the following offences:
- Count 1: Assaulting a Peace Officer
- Count 2: Assault With a Weapon
- Count 3: Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
While in custody, the accused became aggressive and was involved in a second altercation. He was charged additionally with the following offence:
- Count 4: Assaulting a Peace Officer
The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he is currently being held for bail.
