Date: August 27, 2025, Time: 07:55hrs Location: Third Street, Chatham
On April 27, 2025, at approximately 18:05 hours, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a single motor vehicle collision involving a black Dodge Ram on Middle Line, between Charing Cross Road and Erieau Road. Witnesses reported that the occupants were transferring alcohol to a grey Dodge Caravan before being picked up by another vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers found a 36-year-old male outside the crashed vehicle, showing signs of impairment. He was arrested for impaired operation. Shortly after, police intercepted the grey Dodge Caravan, driven by a 32-year-old female and carrying a 30-year-old male passenger. During the investigation, it was discovered that the male passenger had an outstanding immigration warrant, resulting in his arrest. The female driver also exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired operation.
A search of the grey Dodge Caravan incident to arrest revealed a loaded prohibited firearm concealed under alcohol containers. The firearm had been tampered with, as the serial number was destroyed, and it contained rounds of ammunition.
Following the arrests, both the male and female suspects were taken to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters. The investigation further connected the 36-year-old male suspect from the collision to the firearm.
On August 27, 2025, he attended the police headquarters and was arrested, where he is currently being held pending a bail hearing.
All three suspects, a 39-year-old Chatham man, a 36-year-old Chatham man and a 32-year-old Wallaceburg woman currently face the following charges:
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Tampering with Serial Number of a Firearm
- Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
The 39-year-old Chatham man and the 32-year-old Wallaceburg woman also face the following additional changes:
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm
- Possession of a Concealed Firearm
Fail to Attend Court/Warrant- CK25051500
Date: August 27, 2025, Time: 12:03 hrs Location: Wedgewood Avenue, Chatham
On October 1, 2023, at approximately 12:00 AM, two male victims, who had just attended a wedding event at a downtown venue, walked towards Tecumseh Park. Upon reaching the Bandshell, they were confronted by a large group of youth who demanded money and a vape.
As the victims attempted to leave the situation to avoid confrontation, they were assaulted by the youth. The attack resulted in serious injuries for one of the victims. Following the incident, police conducted an investigation that led to the identification of the suspects involved, and several arrests were made.
On August 27, 2025, at 11:24 AM, police received a report regarding unwanted individuals at a residence on Wedgewood Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a 14-year-old male youth who was the subject of an arrest warrant due to his failure to attend a scheduled court appearance related to the earlier assault.
The youth was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was later released to a parent with conditions. He is scheduled to appear in court again on September 24, 2025.

Date: August 28, 2025, Time: 05:51hrs Location: Queen Street, Chatham
On August 9, 2025, at approximately 4:30 hours, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to an alarm at a school on William Street North in Chatham. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the rear door glass had been broken. The keyholder of the building arrived and walked through the premises with officers. The keyholder was able to confirm that items had been taken from the building.
Using the CCTV footage, police were able to identify a suspect and tracked him to a convenience store located on Grand Avenue West, Chatham.
On August 10, 2025, at approximately 22:23 hours, a police officer located the suspect. He was arrested and found in possession of the stolen items from the school. He was subsequently charged with break and enter to commit mischief and theft under $5,000 and held for a bail hearing. He was subsequently released by the court with conditions and a future court date. When he failed to meet this court date a warrant was issued.
On August 27, 2025, an e-bike was reported stolen from a farm on Bloomfield Road in Chatham.
On August 28, 2025, at approximately 01:50 hours the 29-year-old Chatham-Kent man was located on Queen Street and was found to be in possession of the stolen electric bike. He was arrested and is currently being held pending a bail hearing.
