The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events, including arrests, investigations, and other notable occurrences.
Arrest/IPV Mischief – CK25049828
Date: August 19, 2025, Time: 18:31hrs, Location: Chatham
On August 19, 2025, at approximately 18:31 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a domestic dispute and property damage at a residence in Chatham.
Through investigation, it was determined that a verbal altercation had occurred between the victim, a 24-year-old female from Chatham and the accused, a 24-year-old male also from Chatham. During the incident, the victim left the residence.
When the victim returned, it was discovered that the accused had caused damaged to the interior of the residence as well as, damage to personal property belonging to the victim.
The accused was located and arrested a short time later. The individual was charged with the following:
- Mischief – Destroys or Damages Property x2
The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he is currently being held for bail.
Arrest/Warrants – CK25049838
Date: August 19, 2025, Time: 21:09 hrs, Location: James Street, Wallaceburg
On July 21, 2025, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of theft from a local retail business in Wallaceburg.
The accused, a 35-year-old female from Chatham-Kent, entered the business and began removing several items of merchandise off the shelves and placing them into a bag. She passed all points of sale without making any attempt to pay. The accused subsequently left the store. Surveillance footage was obtained and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
On August 19, 2025, at approximately 21:09 hrs, the accused was located and arrested by the Chatham-Kent Police Service in Wallaceburg. She was charged with the following:
- Theft Under $5,000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where she was later released with conditions and a scheduled future court date of September 24, 2025.
