The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events, including arrests, investigations, and other notable occurrences.
Stunt Driving – CK25048768
Date: August 14, 2025, Time: 23:53 hrs, Location: Wheatley Road
On August 14, 2025, at approximately 23:53 hrs, Chatham-Kent Police Service Officers, while patrolling, observed a vehicle travelling at speed of 135 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.
The vehicle was stopped and the driver was identified as a 46-year-old male from North York. As a result, he was arrested and charged with the following:
- Count 1: Stunt Driving
The individual was arrested and issued a Part 3 summons under the Provincial Offences Act (POA) for driving a motor vehicle while performing a stunt. As a result, the vehicle was impounded for 14 days and the driver’s license was suspended for 30 days.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind the public that excessive speeding poses a serious risk to those on the road and can lead to significant penalties. Please drive safely and responsibly while on the road.
Arrest/Theft MV – CK25048580
Date: August 14, 2025, Time: 08:19hrs Location: North Street, Dresden
On August 14, 2025, at approximately 08:19hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service assisted another police service with the arrest of a 37-year-old male from Dresden. The individual, wanted on unrelated charges, was located and arrested in the area of Dresden.
Further investigation revealed that the individual was found to be in possession of a stolen vehicle. It was determined that he was subject to a probation order and a separate court order.
As a result, the individual was arrested on new charges related to the stolen vehicle and was charged with the following:
- Count 1: Possession Property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Count 2: Fail to Comply with Probation Order
He was transported to South West Detention Centre (SWDC), where he will remain in custody until his next video court appearance on August 19, 2025.
