The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events, including arrests, investigations, and other notable occurrences.

Arrest/Theft – CK25045319

Date: July 30, 2025, Time: 23:22 hrs, Location: Grand Avenue West, Chatham

On July 30, 2025, at approximately 23:22 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of theft from a local convenience store on Grand Avenue West, Chatham. The suspect entered the store, selected merchandise, exited without attempting to pay and departed the premises. The suspect was observed on CKPS CCTV walking with the merchandise and was identified as a 21-year-old male from Wallaceburg.

Shortly after the above report, officers responded to a robbery at a nearby business also on Grand Avenue West, Chatham. The accused matching the earlier description, entered the premises and attempted to leave with merchandise again. During the encounter, the accused used an object in a threatening manner toward the victim, a 26-year-old-male from Chatham.

Officers located and arrested the suspect at approximately 23:31 hrs. He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters.

The individual is currently facing the following charges:

  • Count 1: Theft under $5,000
  • Count 2: Possession property under $5,000 x2
  • Count 3: Robbery

While in custody, the accused became agitated and destroyed a camera within the cell unit valued at $1,000. The accused was charged additionally with the following:

  • Count 4: Mischief under $5,000

The individual is currently being held in custody and is pending bail.

Arrest, Warrants- CK25045240

Date: July 30, 2025, Time: 15:45 hrs, Location: 24 Third St. Chatham

A warrant was issued by the Chatham-Kent Police Service for a 55-year-old male from Chatham, who failed to comply with the conditions of a Peace Bond issued in July 2022. The individual was required to complete a Partner Assault Response Program within a 12-month period and provide proof of completion to the Crown Attorney’s office.

However, the individual failed to complete the program and was subsequently discharged. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was also charged with the following:

  • Count #1:  Breach of Peace Bond

On July 30, 2025, at approximately 15:45 hrs, the mentioned individual turned himself in at the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was arrested on a first instance warrant for breaching a section 811 recognizance. He was released with a scheduled future court of September 8, 2025.
