The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events, including arrests, investigations, and other notable occurrences.

CK25041708/CK25041731 – Shoplifting and Warrant

Date: July 16, 2025, Time: 08:30 hrs, Location: St. Clair Street, Chatham

On July 16, 2025, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to reports of theft at two retail businesses in Chatham.

In the first incident, at approximately 7:30 a.m., the accused, a 40-year-old female from Chatham-Kent selected several items of merchandise, concealed them and exited the business without making any attempt to purchase. Upon investigation, the accused was located and transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters.

Later that day, officers responded to a second report involving the same individual, who had again selected multiple items from another local retail store within the area and left the store without payment.

She was located and arrested by the Chatham-Kent Police Service officers.

The accused is currently facing the following charges:

  • Theft Under $5,000 X2
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 X2

The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters where she is currently being held for bail.

Person Stop/Failure to Comply – CK25041940

Date: July 16, 2025, Time: 00:47 hrs, Location: Murray Street, Wallaceburg

On April 26, 2024, a 50-year-old male from Walpole Island was released with several conditions, including a curfew requiring him to remain on the property of his residence daily between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. except for medical emergencies involving immediate family members. These conditions were imposed in relation to multiple prior charges including mischief, assault, threats, causing a disturbance and failure to comply with prior probation orders.

On July 16, 2025, at approximately 1:14 a.m. the Chatham-Kent Police Service observed the male walking southbound in the middle of the roadway in the area of Wallaceburg.

Upon investigation, the individual was identified as the same male and was found to be in violation of his court-imposed released conditions

At approximately 1:14 a.m., the individual was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Count 1 – Fail to comply with release order

He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he is currently being held for bail.
