Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 211calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested and one on an outstanding warrant.
Warrant arrest Probation and Parole CK24060003
At 2:47 pm a 32 year old woman attended the Probation and Parole office on Grand Ave West Chatham. The woman was to abide by specific conditions from previous charges. The woman violated this release and a warrant issued for breaching her conditional sentence order. The woman was located on Grand Ave West Chatham and placed under arrest. The woman was taken to Chatham-Kent Headquarters and held for bail.
Motor vehicle accident /Impaired Indian Creek West Chatham CK24060113
At 12:25 am on November 23,2024 a resident in the area of Indian Creek Road West Chatham heard a loud bang. The resident believed it was a motor vehicle collision and contacted the Police. Police arrived in the area of Lacroix and Indian Creek West Chatham and located a pickup in a tree area attempting to reverse and leave. The driver of the pickup was immediately arrested at the scene for impaired. A 43 Charing Cross man was taken to Chatham-Kent Headquarters where he was found to be three times the legal the limit. The man was charged with Impaired operation and 80 plus and released when sober with a future court date of December 9,2024. The man had gone straight through the intersection without stopping and we are grateful no other member of the public was hurt.
Vehicle stop leads to Impaired charges Wellington West Chatham CK24060064
A 65 year old Chatham man was stopped on Wellington Street West Chatham for a traffic offence. During the stop the man was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The man was arrested and taken to Chatham-Kent Headquarters where he was found to be 2 ½ times the legal limit. The man was charged with Impaired operation 80 plus and released with a future court date.
The Chatham-Kent Police encourage residents to plan ahead during this holiday season. The festive R.I.D.E. programs started last week.
• Plan and arrange for a designated driver or take public transportation.
• Offer a sober ride to a friend who has been drinking or consuming drugs.
• Call 911 to report suspected impaired drivers.
• Enjoy responsibly.
