Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 196 calls for service in the last 24 hours. 7 people were arrested.
Break and Enter – CK24055464
Yesterday morning, officers attended a business address on Gillard Street, Wallaceburg in response to a break and enter with a theft of wire. A 57-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged for the theft, and later released from custody with a future court date to answer to the charge.
Disturbance Call – CK24055615
While attending to a disturbance call last night, a 45-year-old Chatham woman was in her vehicle and suspected to be impaired by an alcohol and drug combination. She was arrested, and charged. The results of the breath tests were in excess of the legal limit of 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. She was later released from custody with a future court date to answer to the charge.
Road Safety
Yesterday, across the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, there were five motor vehicle collisions. The Chatham-Kent Police Service reminds motorists to obey the speed limit. Speed is almost always a significant factor in collisions with serious and fatal injuries. Road safety is everyone’s responsibility. Make it a priority when you drive.
9 p.m. Routine
Every night at 9 p.m. homeowners are encouraged to ensure the following checklist is complete:
– Remove valuables and garage door opener from vehicles
– Lock vehicles
– Close overhead garage door
– Lock door between garage and house
– Close and lock all external doors
– Ensure windows are closed and locked
– Turn on an exterior light.

The Security Camera Registry is a community based crime prevention opportunity and investigative resource that enlists the help of Chatham-Kent residents.
This registry enables community members to voluntarily identify their residential video surveillance location through a simple, secure, confidential, online form located on the Chatham-Kent Police Service website. Identified addresses will be mapped on a database of surveillance camera locations for officers to quickly and effectively direct resources when investigating criminal offences in your neighbourhood. Your participation in this innovative program can deter and prevent crime, and save lives.
