On February 10, 2026, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service, responded to a report of a break and enter at the construction site of the new Children’s Treatment Centre, located on McNaughton Avenue West, Chatham.
Investigators determined that between February 6, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. and February 9, 2026, at 7:00 a.m., two unknown suspects entered the site and stole approximately $10,000 worth of tools.
As part of the ongoing investigation, on February 13, 2026, members of the Intelligence Unit obtained and executed a search warrant at a residence on Sandys Street in Chatham. As a result of the investigation, all but one of the reported stolen tools were recovered.
Two individuals, a 35-year-old male from Chatham and a 42-year-old female from Chatham, were arrested and charged with the following offences:
The 35-year-old male:
- Break and Enter – Commit an Indictable Offence
- Possession of Stolen Property Over $5,000
The 42-year-old female:
- Possession of Stolen Property Over $5,000
The female accused was released with a future court date of March 19, 2026. The male accused was transported to the South West Detention Centre and remains in custody pending a video court appearance on February 17, 2026.
