The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.
Arrest/Warrant – CK26010318
Date: February 9, 2026, Time: 19:47 hrs., Location: Queen Street., Chatham
On August 14, 2025, at approximately 19:34 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of theft at a retail store on Wellington Street West, Chatham.
Investigation revealed that a female accused had entered the store, selected merchandise, placed the items into a shopping bag before exiting the store without making any attempt to pay.
Through the use of surveillance footage, the accused was identified as a 50-year-old female from Chatham-Kent. Officers formed reasonable grounds to charge the individual with the following:
- Count: 1 – Theft Under $5000
- Count: 2 – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
Subsequently, a warrant was issued for her arrest.
On August 20, 2025, at approximately 16:16 hrs., the accused was located on Jeffery Street, Chatham. She was arrested on the strength of her outstanding warrant. She was released with
conditions and a court date which she failed to attend on several occasions.
On February 9, 2026, at approximately 19:47 hrs., the accused was located on Queen Street, Chatham during a person stop. She was arrested on the strength of her outstanding warrant. The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where she is currently held for bail.
Arrest/Warrant – CK26010410
Date: February 9, 2026, Time: 03:05 hrs., Location: Murray Street, Wallaceburg
On August 26, 2025, at approximately 12:33 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of theft at a retail store on McNaughton Avenue, Wallaceburg (CK25051302).
Investigation revealed that a female accused had entered the store, selected merchandise, placed the items into a shopping bag before exiting the store without making any attempt to pay.
Through the use of surveillance footage, the accused was identified as a 42-year-old female from Wallaceburg. Officers formed reasonable grounds to charge the individual with the following:
- Count: 1 – Theft Under $5000
- Count: 2 – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
Subsequently, a warrant was issued for her arrest.
On August 28, 2025, at approximately 7:59 hrs., the accused was located on Reaume Avenue, Wallaceburg. She was arrested on the strength of her outstanding warrant and was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where she was later released with a scheduled court date of October 1, 2025. The accused failed to attend court and a warrant was subsequently issued for her arrest.
On February 9, 2026, at approximately 03:05hrs., the accused was located on Murray Street, Wallaceburg during a person stop. She was arrested on the strength of an endorsed outstanding warrant. The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where she was released with conditions and a future court date of March 9, 2026.
Arrest/Warrant – CK26010285
Date: February 9, 2026, Time: 16:29 hrs., Location: St. Clair Street, Chatham
On February 9, 2026, at approximately 16:29 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of theft at a local retail store on St. Clair Street, Chatham.
Investigations revealed that a male had arrived at the store with a U-Haul vehicle and left with a shopping cart full of unpaid merchandise.
Through the use of various investigative methods, the vehicle was located on Fifth Street, Chatham.
As a result of the investigation, police identified the accused as a 51-year-old male from Chatham.
The individual was charged with the following offences:
- Count: 1 – Theft Under $5000
- Count: 2 – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was released with conditions and a scheduled court date. He was also trespassed from the retail store.
