The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 72 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.
Arrest, Warrants – CK26008515
Date: February 6, 2026, Time: 09:30 hrs., Location: Grand Avenue West, Chatham
On February 6, 2026, at approximately 09:30 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of an unwanted person at a restaurant located on Grand Avenue West, Chatham.
Investigations revealed that a 46-year-old male from Chatham had attended the restaurant on multiple occasions and had previously failed to pay for meals. Upon arrival, officers located the individual and advised him that he was not welcome on the property
As a result of the investigation, officers formed reasonable grounds to arrest the individual for Trespassing under the Trespass to Property Act. The accused was later released unconditionally with a Provincial Offence Notice for trespass to property.
Impaired – CK26009661
Date: February 7, 2026, Time: 02:12hrs., Location: Colborne St., Chatham
On February 7, 2026, at approximately 02:12 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on Colborne Street, Chatham.
Investigations revealed that a vehicle had lost control and became stuck in a snowbank.
Officers arrived at the scene at approximately 02:19 hrs and observed a motor vehicle facing westbound and stuck in a snowbank. Officers made contact with the driver and noted a strong odor of alcohol. The driver also displayed signs of impairment.
As a result of these observations and the circumstances of the collision, officers formed grounds to arrest the driver for impaired operation.
The driver was identified as a 25-year-old male from London. He was charged with the following:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol
The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters for additional breath testing which he refused. He was subsequently charged additionally with the following offence.
- Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand
Due to concerns regarding his health the accused was transported to the hospital for additional medical assistance and was released unconditionally.
Arrest/Warrants – CK26009751
Date: February 7, 2026, Time: 13:07 hrs., Location: Sixth Line, Buxton
On June 30, 2024, at approximately 18:00 hrs, Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of an assault in the North Buxton, Raleigh.
The investigation revealed that a 24-year-old male victim from Tilbury had been exploring an abandoned residence when he was confronted by a 24-year-old male accused from Raleigh Township. During the interaction, the victim was forcibly removed from the property and physically assaulted. Police determined that excessive force was used, resulting in injuries to the victim’s head, ribs, and torso. Additional medical attention was required.
As a result of the investigation, the accused was charged with the following offence:
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm
He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he was released with conditions and a future court date of October 21, 2024. The accused failed to attend court and subsequently, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On February 7, 2026, the accused was arrested by Chatham-Kent Police Service officers during a traffic stop at the intersection of Bloomfield Road and Sixth Line in Chatham on the strength of the outstanding warrant. He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he was released with conditions and a scheduled court date of March 16, 2026.
Arrest/FTC – CK26009761
Date: February 7, 2026, Time: 13:48 hrs., Location: McNaughton Avenue East, Chatham
On February 7, 2026, at approximately 13:51 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a family dispute at a residence on McNaughton Avenue East in Chatham.
Investigations revealed that a 33-year-old male from Chatham attended the residence earlier in the day, began acting erratically and making threats toward individuals inside the home.
Officers arrived at approximately 13:56 hrs and located the accused inside the residence engaged in a verbal altercation with the complainant. During the interaction, the accused stated that he had attended the residence to return personal belongings. Officers reminded the individual that he was subject to court-ordered conditions prohibiting him from attending the residence or communicating with the complainant.
The accused had previously been released on October 27, 2025, which included conditions not to communicate directly or indirectly with specific individuals and not to attend within 50 metres of places where they reside, work, or attend school.
As a result of the investigation, the accused was arrested at approximately and charged with the following offence:
- Failure to Comply with Undertaking x 2
The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was later released with conditions and a future court date of March 16, 2026.
Arrest/Warrants – CK26009776
Date: February 7, 2026, Time: 13:48 hrs., Location: Essex OPP
On March 2, 2025, at approximately 11:44 hrs., Chatham-Kent Police Service officers responded to a report mischief at a residence on Erie Street North, Wheatley. Officers were contacted by a resident who reported concerns after discovering damage to the door, including signs of forced entry.
Investigations revealed that the residence’s door had been forcibly entered and no one was located inside.
Further investigation, through the use of surveillance footage, identified the accused was as a 28-year-old male from Wheatley using force and a pry bar to enter the residence.
Officers formed grounds to charge the accused with the following offence:
- Count 1: Mischief Under $5,000
Subsequently a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The accused was arrested on March 24, 2025 and was released with conditions and a scheduled court date of April 28, 2025. The accused failed to attend court and an endorsed warrant was issued for his arrest.
On February 7, 2026, at approximately 15:25 hrs. the Essex Ontario Provincial Police located and arrested the accused on the strength of his existing warrant. The accused was returned to Chatham-Kent Police Service and was released with a scheduled court date of March 10, 2026.
Arrest/Threats – CK26009963
Date: February 8, 2026, Time: 13:48 hrs., Location: Stanley Street, Blenheim
On February 8, 2026, at approximately 13:48 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of an assault.
Investigations revealed that a 70-year-old male accused from Blenheim and the victim had been involved in an ongoing dispute.
During the incident, the accused threatened the victim by physically assaulting the him. Further investigation also revealed that the accused had previously made threats to cause bodily harm to the victim who feared for their safety.
As a result of the investigation, officers formed grounds to charge the accused with the following offences:
- Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Assault
The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he was released with a scheduled future court date of March 31, 2026.
