The Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) responded to a variety of incidents over the past 24 hours. Below is a summary of the key events.

IPV/Breach/Facilitate – CK26012206 /CK26012210 

Date: February 17, 2026, Time: 9:26 hrs. Location: Murray Street, Wallaceburg

On February 17, 2026, at approximately 9:26 hrs., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of a male and female arguing inside a moving vehicle on Murray Street, Wallaceburg.

Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Two individuals were identified, a 40-year-old female from Chatham-Kent and a 56-year-old male from Wallaceburg.

Both individuals were found to be in breach of their court-ordered conditions. They were arrested and charged with the following offence:

  • Count 1: Fail to Comply with an Undertaking

The individuals were transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where both accused were released with a scheduled court date of March 10, 2026.

Property/Weapons – CK26012233/ CK26012196

Date: February 17, 2026, Time: 10:46 hrs., Location: Wellington Street, Chatham

On February 17, 2026, at approximately 8:40 hrs., a member of the Chatham-Kent Police Service received a report of a stolen bicycle from a resident in Chatham.

At 10:46 hrs., an officer observed a male riding a bicycle matching the description eastbound on Wellington Street in Chatham, the officer initiated a traffic stop and confirmed the bicycle had been reported stolen. The bicycle was returned to the owner.

As a result of the investigation, the accused was charged with the following offence:

  • Count 1: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

Further investigations revealed that the accused was in breach of his court-ordered release conditions by being in possession of a knife, which was a prohibited weapon and he was additionally charged:

  • Count 2: Failure to Comply with Release Order

The accused was transported to the South West Detention Centre, where he remains remanded until his next video court appearance on February 27, 2026.

Warrants – CK26012241

Date: February 17, 2026, Time: 11:28 hrs., Location: Third St Chatham

On January 30, 2025, Chatham-Kent Police Service officers attended the residence of a 34-year-old male accused to conduct a compliance check. Officers were advised by the surety that the accused had had not been residing at the address since November 2024. The accused was not located at the residence (CK25006332).

Officers formed grounds to charge the accused with the following offence:

  • Count 1: Fail to Comply with a Release Order

Subsequently, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On February 17, 2026, at approximately 19:08 hrs., the accused surrendered himself at the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was arrested on his outstanding warrant. The accused was later released with a scheduled future court date of March 10, 2026.

Warrants/IPV – CK26012306/CK26012225

Date: February 17, 2026, Time: 19:08 hrs., Location: Wallaceburg

On February 16, 2026, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service received a complaint regarding the unauthorised sharing of private photograph.

Through investigation, officers learned that the image was taken without the victim, a 29-year-old female from Wallaceburg, knowledge or consent and it was also shared without the victim’s consent.

As a result of the investigation the accused, a 30-year-old male from Wallaceburg was charged with the following offences:

  • Count 1: Voyeurism
  • Count 2: Publication of an Intimate Image Without Consent

On February 17, 2026, at approximately 19:08 hrs., the accused surrendered himself at the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was arrested for the offences. The accused was later released with a scheduled future court date of March 23, 2026.
