Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 286 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested and two were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Bail Violations CK24044669
On September 10, 2024, at 9:51 a.m., police responded to a bail violation investigation in Chatham.
Investigation revealed the man, who had been charged with several sexual offences in 2022, had been released by the court with several conditions, which prohibited him from communicating with the victim in any way. On this day, the man encountered the victim and communicated with her through a gesture. After attempts to physically locate the man were unsuccessful, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On September 11, 2024, at 7:18 a.m., the 48-year-old Chatham man turned himself in to the police. He has arrested and held pending a bail hearing. He has been charged with failing to comply with a release order.
As a result of the bail hearing, the man was remanded into custody and transported to Southwest Regional Detention Centre. His next court appearance has been scheduled for September 13, 2024.
Man Arrested for Weapons Offences CK24044752
At 4:13 p.m., police responded to Stanley Street in Blenheim for a weapons investigation.
Officers were advised a man, brandishing a hunting knife, chased a woman inside a business. The man then entered a residence on Stanley Street without permission. The man threated the homeowner when asked to leave.
Officers quickly arrived on the scene and with the assistance of a conducted energy weapon the man was taken into custody without incident.
The 37-year-old Ridgetown mas transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He has been charged with break and enter, uttering threats and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Man Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK24044831
At 11:30 p.m., police located the man on Turnbull Avenue in Wallaceburg.
The officer confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to several investigations.
The 41-year-old Chatham man was transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, theft, possession of stolen property over $5000, two counts of failing to attend court, two counts of mischief, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and several Highway Traffic Act Offences.
Man Arrested for Break and Enter CK24044887
On September 12, 2024, at 2:25 a.m., police responded to a security alarm at a business on Mason Street in Wallaceburg. The man was observed via surveillance footage removing items from the business.
Officers arrived on the scene and after a systematic search located the man hiding on inside the property.
The 24-year-old Wallaceburg man was transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He has been charged with break and enter and theft.
