Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 180 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested, and four were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK24035621
On October 20, 2023, Police responded to a suspicious vehicle on London Road in Thamesville. Through investigation, officers confirmed the vehicle was stolen. Police identified the man in possession of the vehicle through surveillance footage.
The man was arrested and provided a court date. When he failed to attend court, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On July 29 at 8:50 a.m., the 41-year-old Moraviantown man was located and arrested on Austin Line in Orford Township. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: possession of stolen property over $5000.
As a result of the bail hearing, the man was released by the court with a court date of August 21, 2024.
Man Arrested for Assault CK24035627
On July 16, 2024, at 10:33 a.m., police responded to Young Street in Tilbury for an assault investigation.
Police learned the man engaged in a verbal argument with another man. The argument escalated when he struck the other man, resulting in physical injuries. The man left prior to police arrival and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On July 29, 2024, at 9:58 a.m., police located the man on Grand Avenue East in Chatham and arrested him. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. While in police custody the man damaged equipment. The man is currently facing the following charges: assault and mischief.
Man Arrested for Uttering Threats CK24035637
At 10:19 a.m., police responded to Canterbury Street in Chatham for a threats investigation.
Officers learned the man approached a homeowner and without provocation, threatened to harm them.
The 29-year-old Chatham-Kent man was located and arrested and short distance away. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was released with conditions and a future court date of September 9, 2024. He is currently facing the following charges: uttering threats.
Man Arrested for Driving Offences CK24035758
On July 30, 2024, at 1:24 a.m., an officer on patrol was alerted by an Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) and conducted a traffic stop on Lacroix Street in Chatham.
The vehicle stopped on Emma Street and the driver attempted to flee on foot. After a short foot pursuit, the man was taken into custody. Upon a search incident to arrest the man was found in possession of suspected fentanyl. Officers also confirmed the man was prohibited from driving as a result of driving convictions. He had also been released from custody for the same offence.
The 35-year-old Chatham man was transported to police headquarters, where the was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: driving under suspension, possession of a controlled substance and six counts of operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code of Canada.
