Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 162 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Eight people were arrested, and six were on outstanding warrants.
Youths Arrested for Assault CK24034766/4785
On July 18, 2024, at 6:01 p.m., police began an assault investigation in Blenheim.
Through investigation, officer learned while attending the festival, the victims were approached by a group of youths, known to them. The youths taunted the victims and subsequently assaulted them. As a result of the altercation, the victims sustained minor physical injuries.
On July 24, 2024, police located the two youths and arrested them. A 14-year-old male youth and a 19-year-old man, both of Blenheim were arrested and transported to police headquarters, where they were released with conditions as future court dates. They’ve both been charged with assault.
Man Arrested for Bail Violations CK24034851
At 5:49 p.m., police responded to King Street East in Chatham for a bail violation investigation.
Officers learned the man had contacted the woman several times via social media and text messages. The man was prohibited from contacting the woman as per an undertaking dated May 10, 2024, and a probation order dated September 7, 2023.
At 10:11 p.m., the 21-year-old Chatham-Kent man was located and arrested. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently charged with three counts of failing to comply with an undertaking and four counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
Man Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK24034875
At 8:35 p.m., police responded to Canterbury Street in Chatham to investigate suspicious activity.
Officers located the man and confirmed he was wanted for failing to attend court in relation to probation violations.
The 26-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released with a new court date of August 26, 2024. He is currently facing the following charges: break-and-enter, possession of stolen property, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
Youth Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK24034888
At 10:00 p.m., the man attended Chatham-Kent Police headquarters and turned himself in to the police.
The male youth was wanted for failing to attend court in relation to a March 2024 assault investigation in Chatham.
The 17-year-old Chatham youth was arrested and released with a new court date of August 26, 2024. He is currently facing the following charges: two counts of assault.
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving CK24034901
On July 25, 2024, at 12:13 a.m., police observed a vehicle travel through a red light on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.
The officer conducted a traffic stop and believed the man driving to be under the influence of alcohol. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests. The officer also learned the man was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle.
The 44-year-old Chatham man was charged with prohibited driving, impaired driving and having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He was released with conditions and a future court date of August 26, 2024. His vehicle was towed and impounded.
