Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 184 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people was arrested and three were on outstanding warrants.
Woman Arrested for Theft CK24026653
At 10:19 a.m., police responded to a business on St. Clair Street, near McNaughton Avenue for a theft investigation.
Upon arrival officers learned the woman entered the store and removed items from the shelves. The woman concealed the items on her person and left without making any attempts to pay for the merchandise. Video surveillance helped identify the woman.
At 11:30 a.m., the woman was located on Wellington Street in Chatham and arrested. The stolen merchandise was found and seized as evidence.
The 29-year-old Chatham woman was transported to police headquarters, where she was released with conditions and a future court date of July 8, 2024. She has been charged with theft and possession of stolen property.
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving CK24026738
At 6:00 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Paxton Drive in Chatham. Information was received a vehicle struck a tree and a pole.
Officers arrived on the scene and believed the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters for tests. Officers also confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to a June 2023 assault investigation.
The 42-year-old Chatham man was charged with impaired driving and having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He was released with conditions and a future court date of June 24, 2024.
Man Arrested for Bail Violations CK24026748
At 7:04 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Wellington Street East in Chatham.
Upon arrival, officers learned the man was on conditions not to associate with his ex-spouse that lived at the Wellington Street East residence.
The 41-year-old Chatham man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was released with conditions and a future court date of July 15, 2024. He has been charged with failing to comply with an undertaking.
Man Arrested for Weapons Offences CK24026773
At 10:21 p.m., Sarnia Police Service contacted the Chatham Kent Police Service advising they had a man in custody wanted on a warrant held by CKPS.
The man was wanted for weapon offences related to a September 2023 investigation on Centre Sideroad in Chatham Township.
The 24-year-old Sarnia man was transported to police headquarters, where he was released with conditions and a future court date of July 15, 2024. He has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and mischief under $5000.
Woman Arrested for Bail Violations CK24026789
On June 11, 2024, at 12:05 a.m., police responded to Talbot Street in Shrewsbury to investigate suspicious activity. Information was received the woman attempted to enter a home.
Officers arrived on the scene and located the woman. Officers confirmed the woman was wanted on outstanding warrants for several investigations.
The 27-year-old Chatham Kent woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where she was held pending a bail hearing. She is currently facing the following charges: mischief, failing to comply with an undertaking, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
