The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 183 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Three people were arrested, and two were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Mischief CK23035375
On July 9, 2023, at 9:29 p.m., police responded to Nichols Avenue in Erieau to conduct a well-being check after receiving a dozen 911 calls from the residence.
Police located the man highly intoxicated and cautioned him on the misuse of the 911 service. When the man continued to call 911, officers returned and arrested him.
The 44-year-old Erieau man was arrested and charged with mischief. He was transported to police headquarters and held until he was sober. He was released with conditions and a future court date of August 14, 2023.
Man Arrested Assaulting the Police CK23035408
On July 10, 2023, at 2:22 a.m., officers conducted a property check on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.
The man was found by police and confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court for weapons charges. As police attempted to arrest the man, the man became confrontational and assaultive towards the officers. A conducted energy weapon was utilized, and the man was taken into custody.
The 43-year-old Tilbury man was transported to police headquarters and additionally charged with assaulting a police officer. He was held pending a bail hearing.
