The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 160 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Eight people were arrested.
Update: Break and Enter in Chatham Township CK19002050
As previously released back in January, unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a residence on Countryview Line. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole a dryer and various tools. Also stolen from the driveway was a grey 2001 GMC Denali with Ontario license plates BNFX 655.
The scene was examined and evidence was seized for forensic examination. In February, police received information from the Centre of Forensic Sciences stating that a DNA profile was generated and matched that of a local woman. A warrant was subsequently issued for her arrest.
Yesterday, police located and arrested the woman. Shanya Sands, 23 years, of Walpole Island was charged with break and enter. She was released pending a future court date of October 2, 2019.
Man Charged with Assault CK19047617
Yesterday morning, the man assaulted his wife during an argument in a parking lot in Wallaceburg.
Officers located the man and he was arrested. The 36-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Disobeys Curfew CK19047646
On June 14, 2019 the man was released from Court with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to obey a daily curfew of 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday morning, an officer on general patrol observed the man rollerblading in Chatham. By the time, police learned his conditions, the man left the area and was not located.
Yesterday afternoon, police located the man and he was arrested. The 27-year-old Chatham man has been charged with failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Pair Charged with Uttering Threats CK19047682
Last night, an ongoing argument continued at the skateboard park in Chatham between four young girls all known to each other.
One of the girls called her mother for assistance. This resulted in the mother and her boyfriend attending the area.
The man pulled into a nearby parking lot at a high rate of speed nearly striking one of the young girls. As she swerved on her bicycle away from the man, he threatened her.
The mother threatened the other young girl involved.
Police were notified of the incident and the man and woman were arrested.
The 33-year-old Chatham man was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and uttering threats. The 34-year-old Chatham woman was charged with uttering threats. Both were released pending a future court date of October 9, 2019.
Man Charged with Mischief CK19047689
Yesterday, the man and woman were involved in a verbal argument. The man then scratched a derogatory word on the hood and driver’s side door on her vehicle.
The 22-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with mischief over $5000. He was released pending a future court date of October 9, 2019.
Disturbance leads to Charges CK19047697
Last night, a verbal argument began between two separated parents while at a home in Chatham.
As a result, the 28-year-old parent from London was arrested and charged with being unlawfully in a dwelling house and assault. They have been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere CK19047720
Last night, police conducted a RIDE spot check on Main Street in Ridgetown.
Approximately 100 vehicles were stopped and checked. Two tickets were issued for Highway Traffic Act violations and one ticket was issued for a Liquor License Act infraction.
Police Recover Two Bicycles CK19047629
Yesterday, police recovered two high-end bicycles in the King Street East area of Chatham. Neither bicycle were found on our Bicycle Registry. We are trying to return these bicycles to their rightful owners.
