The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 196 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Nine people were arrested.
Man Charged with Obstruct Police CK19047208
Yesterday morning around 7:00 a.m. the man attempted to remove a video surveillance camera from a property on Stewart Line. As the homeowner caught the man on his property, he fled on foot. Around 7:20 a.m. police located the man on St. Clair Parkway. The man verbally identified himself, which officers suspected was a false name. Through investigation, police determined his true identity and he was arrested.
The 31-year-old Walpole Island man was charged with mischief under $5000 and obstruct police. He was released pending a future court date of October 2, 2019.
The man was also arrested on an outstanding warrant by Windsor Police and turned over to officers from Windsor for court purposes.
Traffic Stop leads to Drug Charges CK19047344
Last night, an officer on general patrol initiated a traffic stop on Taylor Avenue in Chatham. Through investigation, police learned the driver was wanted for theft of motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified, failing to comply with his release conditions, drug possession and failing to attend court.
The man was arrested on the outstanding warrants and upon being searched was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.
The 30-year-old Shrewsbury man has been charged with being in possession of a stolen license plate, two counts of driving while under suspension, three counts of failing to comply with his release conditions and drug possession. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Youth Charged with Drug Trafficking CK19047321
Shortly after 5:30 p.m. yesterday an officer on general patrol observed a suspicious van driving through Wallaceburg. The officer initiated a traffic stop, however the driver failed to stop and continued driving. The driver eventually pulled into a parking lot and fled on foot carrying a backpack. Following a short foot chase, the driver was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a large quantity of cash, cannabis, cocaine and a scale.
The driver, a 17-year-old Windsor teen was charged with possession for the purposes of trafficking and traffic related offences. He was released to a family member pending a future court date of October 3, 2019.
Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences CK19047358
Last night, police responded to a residence in Wallaceburg in regards to a disturbance.
Upon police arrival, officers observed the man leaving the area where his ex-girlfriend lives on a bicycle. The man jumped off his bicycle and threatened to harm himself while holding what appeared to be a sharp object. Officers communicated with the man and deployed the Taser for his own safety which proved successful.
The 26-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with break and enter and criminal harassment. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
CK19047241 – Yesterday morning, police located a man wanted for robbery and property related offences in Chatham. The 37-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
CK19047299 – Yesterday afternoon, a man wanted for breaching his Probation Order and failing to attend court was arrested in Windsor. The 25-year-old man was transported back to Chatham-Kent for court purposes. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
CK19047352 – Last night, police attended a residence in Chatham to conduct a compliance check. Through investigation, a teen in the home was found to be wanted by OPP. The 15-year-old youth was arrested on the outstanding warrant and turned over to OPP for court purposes.
CK19047398 – Last night, police located a woman wanted for failing to comply with her release conditions and stealing lottery tickets from a convenience store in Chatham early Monday morning. The 29-year-old woman of no fixed address was arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
CK19047401 – Early this morning, a woman wanted in connection with a shoplifting incident at Walmart and failing to attend court was arrested in Windsor. The 27-year-old woman was transported back to Chatham-Kent for court purposes and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
