The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 162 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Three people were arrested.
Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences CK19046859
Early yesterday morning, police received information that the man was sending his ex-girlfriend unwanted text messages.
Through investigation, police learned that the man assaulted the woman and damaged property in her home during their relationship.
Last night, police located the man and he was arrested. The 41-year-old Chatham man has been charged with four counts of assault and two counts of mischief under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Woman Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK19046958
On June 29, 2019 police responded to a shoplifting complaint at the LCBO in Wallaceburg as the woman stole a bottle of 19 Crimes wine valued at $19.00. Officers located the woman a short distance away and she was arrested. The woman was charged and released pending a future court date.
On July 19, 2019 the woman failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Last night around 8:00 p.m. police located the woman and she was arrested on the outstanding warrant. The 23-year-old Wallaceburg woman has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Traffic Stop Leads to Charges CK19046971
Shortly after 9:00 p.m. last night, an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle travelling on Longwoods Road. A query of the license plates revealed that the registered owner was suspended.
The officer initiated a traffic stop and the 21-year-old Kent Bridge woman was charged with driving while under suspension. She will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on October 2, 2019.
Her vehicle was impounded for 7 days as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program and her driver’s license was seized.
Motor Vehicle Collisions
CK19046870 – Yesterday morning, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Allison Line near Gore Road. The driver, a 32-year-old man lost control of his truck, left the roadway and came to rest in the ditch. Luckily, he was not injured. He was charged with driving with no license, no insurance and plates not authorized for the vehicle. He will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on October 2, 2019.
CK19046904 – Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Queen Street in Chatham. No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $7000. A 65-year-old Chatham man was charged with failing to stop for a red light.
CK19046984 – Last night, police responded to single motor vehicle collision on Bear Line Road between Countryview Line and St. Philippe Line. The driver, a 21-year-old Ruthven man lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and struck a nearby shed. He was transported to hospital as a precaution. Total damage was estimated at $23,000. The man was charged with careless driving.
CK19046994 – Last night, police responded to a collision on St. George Street near Main Street in Dresden. The driver, a 36-year-old Dresden man struck a parked vehicle. He was charged with careless driving. Total damage was estimated at $20,000.
