The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 164 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Eleven people were arrested. One person was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
Police Execute Search Warrant CK20037258
Last night, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Section with the assistance of the Critical Incident Response Team, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant at a residence on St. George Street in Chatham.
The search resulted in the seizure of fentanyl and cocaine.
Emily McKenna, 28 years, of St. George Street in Chatham was charged with drug possession. She was released pending a future court date of August 20, 2020.
Steven Kalp, 41 years, of Timmins Crescent in Chatham was charged with drug possession. He was released pending a future court date of August 20, 2020.
Man Charged with Theft CK20034363
Earlier this month, police responded to a theft complaint at a residence on Park Street in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that an unknown man had stolen several items that were outside near the homeowner’s garage. With the assistance of video surveillance, the man was identified.
Yesterday morning, Dakota Gross, 22 years, of no fixed address was arrested and charged with theft under $5000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released pending a future court date of August 21, 2020.
Industrial Accident CK20037174
Yesterday morning, emergency crews responded to an industrial accident on King Street in Chatham where an employee from a local tree cutting service was injured by a falling tree limb.
The 21-year-old Chatham man was transported to hospital for medical attention of non-life-threatening injuries.
The Ministry of Labour was notified.
Man Caught Shoplifting CK20037201
Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Walmart in Chatham.
John Creasey, 44 years, of Adelaide Street in Chatham was arrested and charged with theft under $5000. He was released pending a future court date of September 8, 2020.
Man Charged after Communicating with Woman CK20037243
On July 2, 2020 the man was released from Court with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate with a specific Ridgetown woman.
On Monday, the man contacted the woman via a gaming system and called her cell phone.
Early this morning, officers located the man and he was arrested. The 25-year-old Chatham man was charged with two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Found in Possession of a Prohibited Weapon CK20037260
On June 15, 2020 the man was released from custody with several conditions. Two of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate with a specific Charing Cross woman or attend her home.
Last night, the man attended the woman’s residence and began yelling at her from the driveway. While in possession of a pipe, the man also threatened to damage her vehicle.
Police were called and officers located the man hiding behind a neighbour’s residence. Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of a switchblade.
The 42-year-old Blenheim man has been charged with uttering threats, being in possession of a prohibited weapon and two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Suspended Driving CK20037168
Yesterday morning, an officer on general patrol observed a man driving on Gray Street in Chatham. Upon turning right onto Queen Street, the man failed to signal. The officer initiated a traffic stop for this offence and through investigation learned that the man was suspended for unpaid fines.
The 33-year-old Blenheim man was arrested and charged with failing to signal a turn and driving while under suspension. He was released and will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on September 30, 2020.
