The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 177 calls for service in the last 24 hours. 10 people were arrested.
Man Charged with Impaired Driving CK18031571
Last night, the man was driving in Wallaceburg when he was stopped by officers on a traffic infraction.
The officer suspected the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol. As a result he was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.
A 24 year old Wallaceburg man has been charged with Driving while ability impaired and having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He was held in custody until sober and released with a future court date.
Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE)
Last night, officers conducted a RIDE spot check in Chatham.
150 vehicles were stopped, two roadside test were conducted and one three-day license suspension issued.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service reminds motorists that RIDE spot checks will continue throughout the year across our community in an effort to keep our roadways safe.
If you plan on drinking, then please plan ahead for a safe ride home. Use a designated driver, call a cab or stay overnight.

Motor Vehicle Collisions
CK18031467 – Yesterday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Colborne Street in Chatham. No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $10000. A 36-year-old Chatham man was charged with careless driving.
911 Hang Up Calls
Chatham-Kent Police responded to 35 hang up/accidental 911 calls in the last 24 hour period. The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind everyone that if you accidentally dial 911, please stay on the line.
Should you hang up the call taker will assume it is an emergency and dispatch police. 911 Hang-up calls consume considerable resources, therefore police are asking all cell phone users to “lock it before your pocket.”
