The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 163 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Nine people were arrested.
Update: Stabbing in Chatham CK19029236
Around 6:00 a.m. yesterday morning, police responded to a disturbance between two men known to each other at an apartment on Grand Avenue in Chatham.
A 34-year-old Chatham man sustained non-life-threatening injuries after being stabbed with a knife. He was treated and released at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.
A 26-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and weapons dangerous to the public.
He was transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing.
Woman Arrested from Wanted List CK19029320
Yesterday afternoon, an observant citizen recognized the woman from the Wanted List and called police to report that she was outside a store in Wallaceburg. As officers responded to the area, the woman fled on foot.
Following a short foot chase, the woman was taken into custody in connection with a shoplifting incident at Home Hardware in Dresden back in March.
Through investigation, police learned that she was also wanted by OPP. The 33-year-old Wallaceburg woman was released pending a future court date of July 9, 2019 and turned over to OPP for court purposes.
Youth Arrested on Outstanding Warrants CK19029279
Yesterday, police located a youth wanted for breaching his Probation Order, failing to attend for his fingerprints and failing to attend court.
The 17-year-old Tilbury youth was transported to the Courthouse and released pending a future court date of June 24, 2019.
Pair Charged following Domestic Disturbance CK19029334
Last night, police responded to a disturbance at a residence on Park Street in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that a verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation between the couple resulting in a coffee table in the living room being broken.
Both the man and woman were arrested.
The 34-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with assault.
The 31-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault, mischief under $5000 and resist arrest.
Both have been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Woman Charged with Impaired Driving CK19029350
Shortly after 7:30 p.m. last night, police responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Hill Road and Talbot Trail in Morpeth.
Through investigation, police believed that the woman was driving while under the influence of alcohol and she was arrested. She was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.
Samantha Squire, 25 years, of Alice Street in Thamesville has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. She was released pending a future court date of June 25, 2019.
Man Charged with being in Possession of Break In Tools CK19029393
Just before 2:00 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol observed a man riding a bicycle with no lights on King Street West in Chatham. The officer stopped the man for this offence and through investigation, learned that he was breaching his curfew condition.
Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of a backpack containing wire cutters, pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, flashlights, a multi tool and exactor knife. The man was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and heroin.
The 37-year-old Chatham man has been charged with being in possession of break in instruments, two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions and drug possession. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with being Intoxicated in a Public Place CK19029371
Last night, police received a report of a suspicious man in the area of Running Creek Drive in Wallaceburg. Officers located the man, who was taken into custody for his own safety, as he was unable to care for himself.
The 68-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with being intoxicated in a public place. He was released when sober.
Break and Enter in Chatham CK19029252
Yesterday morning, a homeowner on Elizabeth Street returned home to find a man in his residence carrying a bag. The man was chased out of the residence as police were called. Officers searched the area, but failed to locate the suspect.
Approximately $2000 worth of jewelry and electronics were stolen from the residence.
