Motor Vehicle Collision
On June 24th, 2018 Police attended an address in Blenheim for a collision. A 44 year old Blenheim woman had struck a stationary object with her vehicle the previous night causing approximately $5000 in damage. The women was not injured and was charged under Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act section 3(1).
In Ontario all motor vehicle collisions must be reported to Police if they incur more than $2000 in damage and/or if there are injuries to the involved parties. If there are no injuries you can attend Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters and report the accident to the Collision Reporting Center.
Theft & Possession Under $5000
On June 23rd, 2018 Police attended an address in Chatham to speak with a woman about a stolen phone. The woman suspected her 26 year old son of stealing the phone. Police called the phone and spoke with the 26 year old son; who promptly hung up when he discovered the phone was reported stolen. The 26 year old Chatham man could not be located immediately and is currently being sought by police.
Shoplifter Arrested on Multiple Charges
On June 23rd, 2018 Police responded to Walmart in Chatham for a theft in progress. A 39 year old Chatham man was concealing items as he walked around the store. The man attempted to flee with the stolen items and was confronted by Loss Prevention. The suspect assaulted a Loss Prevention Officer and fled to another store in the shopping district. The suspect had removed his hat in an attempt to change his appearance but was unsuccessful. The 39 year old Chatham man was arrested for Assault, Theft and Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000 and Escape Lawful Custody. He was released with conditions and a pending court date.
