The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 207 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Eight people were arrested.
Man Charged with Escape Lawful Custody CK18027153
Early yesterday morning, the man attended the Real Canadian Superstore in Chatham and was observed concealing 10 SD cards. The man exited the store making no attempt to pay for the items valued at $120. The Loss Prevention officer approached the man outside and placed him under arrest. At this time, the man fled and police were called.
An officer on general patrol observed the man driving his motorcycle southbound on Prince Albert Road. The officer initiated a traffic stop, however the man in an attempt to evade police, turned into a private driveway and continued driving through a grassy field. The man found his way back onto the roadway and eventually pulled over. He was taken into custody in the area of Communication Road and Colborne Street.
Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was also found to be in possession of $55 worth of stolen clothing from the Downtown Chatham Center.
The 52-year-old Dresden man has been charged with theft under $5000, two counts of possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000, escape lawful custody, flight while pursued by peace officer and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. He was transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing.
Pair Charged with Theft CK18027179
Yesterday morning, around 11:15 a.m. police responded to another shoplifting complaint at the Real Canadian Superstore in Chatham. A man and woman were observed stealing various items. Physical descriptors were provided to police as the pair fled on foot when approached by store security.
Officers located the pair in a nearby field and they were taken into custody.
Darren Lawrence and Gina Thomson, both 33 years, of Kathleen Avenue in Sarnia have been charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. They were released pending a future court date of July 4, 2018.
Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK18027253
On April 9, 2018 police responded to a break and enter at Goodwill Industries on National Road in Chatham. The man was arrested and charged with break and enter and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released pending a future court date.
On April 27, 2018 the man failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Last night, the man attended police headquarters and turned himself in.
Steven Bondy, 39 years, of Park Avenue in Chatham was released pending a future court date of June 27, 2018.
Woman Charged with Theft CK18027258
Last night, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Home Depot in Chatham as a woman was observed trying to steal a DeWalt 20v grinder valued at $350.
Luann Yorke, 50 years, of Park Street in Chatham was charged with theft under $5000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. She was released pending a future court date of June 29, 2018.
Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK18027279
On May 9, 2018 the man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to reside at a specific address in Chatham and notify police in writing 24 hours prior to any change in address.
On June 11, 2018 police received information that the man was not living at that address.
Last night, police located the man in Chatham and he was arrested. The 27-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Breaching his Release Conditions CK18027300
On March 8, 2018 the man was released from Court with several conditions. Two of those conditions stated that he was to reside at a specific address in Wallaceburg and remain in his residence unless in the presence of his surety.
On June 11, 2018 police responded to a disturbance involving the man in Wallaceburg. Through investigation, police learned that the man was not living at the address ordered by the Court and that he was currently not with his surety. The man fled the area prior to police arrival.
Early this morning, police located the man and he was arrested. The 28-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with two counts of failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Theft of Tools in Chatham CK18027216
Sometime between Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. and yesterday at 10:30 a.m. unknown suspect(s) entered a garage on Shawnee Trail and stole various tools and a bicycle. Total value of the theft has been estimated at $1600.

Break and Enter in Chatham CK18027134
Sometime yesterday between midnight and 5:45 a.m. unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a building under construction on King Street and stole approximately $5000 worth of tools. Damage was estimated at $500.
