The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 185 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested.
Execution of Drug Warrant Leads to Two Arrests CK18002511
On Tuesday, January 16, 2018 members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service Intelligence Section, assisted by the Critical Incident Response Team, executed the Warrant at a residence on Talbot Trail.
A systematic search of the residence recovered the following, which was seized by police:
– Cannabis Resin
– Prescription medication
The total street value of drugs seized was over $6,500.
As a result, the two homeowners, a 56-year-old Blenheim man and a 57-year-old Blenheim woman were arrested and charged with the following:
– Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Marihuana)
– Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine)
– Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cannabis resin)
– Possession of a Controlled Substance (Diazepam)
– Possession of Property Obtained by a Crime under $5000 x 3
Through investigation, officers learned that in January 2009, the man had been placed on a Prohibition Order, which forbids him from possessing ammunition for life. Therefore, he was additionally arrested and charged with the following:
– Possession of Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2
The pair were transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters. The man has been held in custody for a bail hearing and the woman was released with a future court date.
Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK18002594
In July 2017, the man was released from custody with conditions. One of his conditions was to remain inside his residence at all times.
Early this morning at 2:00 a.m. on officer on general patrol conducted a traffic stop with the man on Selkirk Street in Chatham. Once the man stopped the vehicle he was driving, he exited the van and ran from police. After a lengthy foot chase, the 27-year-old Chatham man was located, arrested and charged with failing to comply.
He was transported to CKPS Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK18002604
In July 2017, the man was released from custody with conditions. One of the conditions was to obey a curfew set by his Probation Officer (PO). The PO placed him on a Probation Order to remain inside his residence between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
Early this morning at 4:00 a.m. an officer on general patrol initiated a traffic stop with the man on Hyland Drive in Blenheim. The 31-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply.
He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.
Break and Enter in Wallaceburg CK18002427
Sometime overnight between Monday, January 15, 2018 and Tuesday, January 16, 2018 an unknown suspect(s) entered two vehicles parked within a driveway at a residence on Water Street. In addition, an unlocked detached garage at this address had also been entered. Various items and loose change was taken from the vehicles as well as an assortment of tools from the garage. The estimated value of stolen items is $1000.
