The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 144 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested.
Woman Charged with Assault CK18002182
Last night at 8:30 p.m. police responded to a disturbance involving three people at an apartment complex on London Road in Thamesville. Through investigation it was learned that the woman assaulted a man who reported only minor injuries that did not require medical treatment.
At 9:15 p.m. the 20-year-old Thamesville woman was arrested and charged with assault. She was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where she was later released with a court date of February 21, 2018.
Woman Charged with Possession of Drugs RM18000125
In September 2017, the woman was released from custody with conditions. One of the conditions was to report to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters every Monday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
On Monday, January 8, 2018 the woman failed to do this. Due to her unknown whereabouts, a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Yesterday at 4:30 p.m. the 29-year-old Wallaceburg woman was located in Wallaceburg and arrested on the warrant for failing to comply. She was searched incident to arrest and drugs were found. Therefore, she was additionally arrested and charged with:
– Possession of a controlled substance (Methamphetamine)
The woman was then transported to CKPS Headquarters where she has been held for a bail hearing.
Man Charged Theft under $5000 RM17002673
In September 2017, the man entered a vehicle parked within a driveway of a residence on Chicory Court in Chatham. He stole a woman’s purse from that vehicle and used a credit card that was found inside the purse, at a variety store on Grand Avenue W. Two purchases, totaling $127 were made using that credit card without the owner’s knowledge and consent. The purchases were captured on video surveillance and through investigation, police were able to identify the man.
Attempts made to locate the man were unsuccessful and a warrant for his arrest was issued.
Early this morning at 2:00 a.m. the 27-year-old Chatham man was located on Thames Street, arrested on the warrant and charged with the following offences:
– Theft under $5000 x 2
– Possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000
He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.

As the name implies, a Polar Plunge is a winter fundraising event whereby individuals have the “honour” of jumping into the icy waters of a portable outdoor swimming pool. They are able to participate by securing donations from friends, family members, co-workers, local business or their community in general. This is a signature provincial event of the Law Enforcement Torch Run initiative benefiting Special Olympics Ontario (SOO).

WHERE: Directly in front of the St. Clair College HealthPlex – Thames (Chatham) Campus
WHY: 100% of the funds will directly benefit the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
