The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 213 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested.
Man Charged with Theft under $5000 CK17044162
On November 14, 2017 the man entered a Feed Supply company in Wheatley where he stole money and an iPad. He then left the business through the rear door. The incident was captured on video surveillance and police were called. The estimated value of stolen items was $600.
Through investigation, the man’s identity was learned. However, attempts to locate the man were unsuccessful and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The next day, Tyler Charamba, 24 years, of Eastman Avenue in Wheatley attended the police station and turned himself in. He was arrested on the warrant and charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released with a court date of December 6, 2017.
Yesterday around 2:30 p.m., an officer attended an address on Erie Street N. in Wheatley due to a report of a stolen trailer. A search of the neighbourhood; where the trailer was stolen, was conducted by the officer. The trailer (estimated value of $300), an aluminum boat (estimated value of $700) and a motorized bicycle (estimated value of $100) were all located.
Through investigation, police learned who was responsible for the theft of the three items. At approximately 4:00 p.m. Tyler Charamba was arrested and additionally charged with three counts of theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was transported to CKPS Headquarters where he was later released with the same court date as mentioned above. The trailer, boat and bicycle were returned to the owners.
Man Charged with Assault Cause Bodily Harm CK17045142
Early this morning at 3:30 a.m. the man and his girlfriend were inside their residence in Chatham when an argument occurred. The argument escalated and she was pushed to the ground. As a result, the woman fell backwards and hit her head on the concrete. She suffered a laceration to the back of her head and was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance by EMS where the incident was disclosed to medical staff. Police were called and notified that the man was in the waiting area of the emergency room.
At 5:24 a.m. the 27-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm. He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK17043161
On November 7, 2017 the man was released from custody. Two of his release conditions were to reside at a certain address in Chatham and to remain inside that residence between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. daily.
On November 8, 2017 an officer attended the man’s residence to ensure he was abiding by his release conditions. Police spoke with the homeowner, who advised she did not know the man and that he had never lived at that address with her. Due to the whereabouts of the man being unknown, a warrant for his arrest was issued.
Last night at 10:00 p.m. the 34-year-old Chatham man was arrested in Blenheim and charged with two counts of failing to comply. He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.
