The Chatham-Kent Police responded to 179 calls for service within the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested.
Seeking Public’s Assistance CK17038597
On Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at approximately 8:50 a.m. a motor vehicle and a pedestrian on a skateboard were involved in a collision on King Street W. and Robertson Avenue in Chatham. Police were notified of the collision later that day by the involved pedestrian. She advised that the woman driver did stop and the two of them conversed before going their separate ways. However, information was not obtained for the woman driving a grey or silver coloured Honda van and police are looking to speak with her.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK17030172
In August 2017, the man was arrested and charged with the following offences:
– Theft under $5000
– Possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000
– Possession of break and enter tools
He was released with a court date of September 6, 2017. However, on that date he failed to appear and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Early this morning at 6:00 a.m. an officer on general patrol in Chatham observed the man riding a bicycle on Patteson Avenue with no light and a traffic stop was initiated. The man gave the officer a fake name, but through investigation the man’s identity was confirmed.
The 18-year-old Chatham man was arrested on the warrant and additionally charged with obstructing police. He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK17038822
In July 2017, the man was arrested and charged with the following offences:
– Assault x 2
– Uttering Threats x 2
– Break and Enter
He was released from custody with conditions and one of them was to reside at a certain residence.
Yesterday, around 5:00 p.m. an officer responded to a family dispute incident and learned the man was not living where he was supposed to be, as per his release condition.
Therefore, the 35-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and charged with failing to comply. He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Obstruct Police CK17038926
In August 2017, the man was placed on a probation order with Chatham Probation and Parole. One of his conditions was to remain inside his residence at all times, with few and very specific exceptions.
Early this morning at 4:30 a.m. an officer on general patrol in Chatham observed the man riding a bicycle on King Street W. without proper lighting and a traffic stop was initiated. The man then fled from the officer on his bicycle and was eventually stopped on School Street. Once stopped, the man gave the officer a fake name, but through investigation his identity was confirmed.
The 27-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with obstructing police and failing to comply with his probation order. He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.
