The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 195 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Nine people were arrested.
Man Charged with Assault CK17029387
Early this morning around 2:00 a.m. the man assaulted his common-law at their residence in Wallaceburg. As a result, the woman suffered swelling to her face. Police were called and the man left prior their arrival.
While the woman was speaking to police, she disclosed a historical incident where the man assaulted her and caused injury to her head. She did not seek medical attention for either of the assaults.
At approximately 4:00 a.m. the 24-year-old Walpole Island man was located at a relative’s address in Wallaceburg. He was arrested and charged with assault and assault cause bodily harm. He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service where he has been held for a bail hearing.
Man Arrested on Warrant CK17029395
On July 26, 2017 at approximately 11:30 a.m. the man entered the No Frills located at 835 Queen Street in Chatham. He exited the store making no attempt to pay for the items, valued at $110, which he had with him.
Two store employees ran after the man and caught up to him in the area of Cecile Avenue and Queen Street. The man threatened them with a weapon as they approached. The store employees took a picture of him and then returned to the store without the man. Police were then contacted.
The man was identified and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Early this morning at 3:00 a.m. the man was observed on Grand Avenue and St. Clair Street by an officer on general patrol in Chatham. David Fields, 38 years, of Elm Street in Chatham was arrested on the warrant in relation to the offences of:
– Theft under $5000
– Possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000
– Utter threats
He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and later released with a court date of August 25, 2017.
Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK17029362
On June 7, 2017 the man was arrested and charged for Trespass by Night. He was released from custody on conditions. One of his conditions was to be inside his residence between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
On July 16, 2017 the man was arrested and charged for failing to comply with the above mentioned condition as he was located outside of his residence between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Again, he was released from custody on conditions. One of his conditions was to be inside his residence between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
Last night around 10:30 p.m. an officer on general patrol in the area of Lacroix Street in Chatham observed the man walking down the street.
The 31-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply. He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.
