The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 186 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested.
Man Charged with Break and Enter CK19005931
Yesterday morning, the man forced his way into a family member’s home in Wallaceburg. Police were called and the man was taken into custody a short distance away. Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.
Through investigation, police learned that the man was currently on conditions not to attend that specific address.
The 29-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with break and enter, failing to comply, breach of probation and drug possession. He was transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Assaulting Police Officer CK19005920
Yesterday morning, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Wallaceburg. When the man was asked to leave, he refused. As the officers placed the man under arrest for trespassing, he resisted and a struggle ensued resulting in an officer being struck in the nose.
The man was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters.
Anthony Day, 26 years, of Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg was charged with failing to leave premise when directed, resisting peace officer and assaulting peace officer. He was released pending a future court date of February 27, 2019.
Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK19006065
Early this morning, an officer on general patrol observed the man riding a bicycle with improper lighting on Cornhill Street in Chatham. Through investigation, police learned the man was wanted for assault with a weapon and failing to attend court.
The 30-year-old Chatham man was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Traffic Enforcement CK19005957
Yesterday morning, members of the Traffic Unit conducted enforcement in Pain Court.
Three motorists were charged with speeding.
Thefts in Blenheim
CK19005918 – Sometime between Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. and Thursday at 7:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) removed electrical cables from two trucks parked on Industrial Avenue.
CK19005995 – Sometime yesterday around midnight, unknown suspect(s) entered the locked compound of Thompsons Ltd on Chatham Street and stole two 50’ extension cords.
